The ministry of industry and information technology recently released The operation of electronic information manufacturing in 2017 and the production and export of communication equipment industry has maintained a rapid growth. In 2017, the production of 1.9 billion mobile phones grows by 1.6 percent over the previous year, but 18.7 percentage points lower than in 2016.
Among the 1.9 billion mobile phones, there are 1.4 billion smartphones, increasing 0.7 percent compared with the previous year and accounting for 74.3 percent of all mobile phone production. The value of export shipments increase by 13.9% compared with the previous year, and the growth rate is 10.5 percentage points faster than that of 2016.
According to preliminary data from IDC, total shipments of the global smartphone market in 2017 are 147.2 million units, down less than 1 percent from 147.3 million units in 2016. IDC believes this is because shipments in China, the U.S. and other markets declined in the fourth quarter of 2017, as consumers appeared to be in no hurry to upgrade to the latest generation of high-priced flagship devices.
In terms of the specific ranking, there has been a big change, with Apple surpassing Samsung in the first place, Xiaomi replacing OPPO in the fourth, and Huawei holding the third place in the world. It is worth noting that Xiaomi achieved a 96.9 percent increase in the case of the other four manufacturers with shipments declining year-on-year.
