While Mediatek announced a moratorium on the development of the X series flagship processors, the development of the mid-end P series processor has not stopped. Recently, media said that Mediatek will release a new mid-end chip called Helio P40 and Helio P70, and the specific parameters of the two chips have also been exposed.
Both the Helio P40 and P70 will be based on the TSMC 12nm process and the traditional “4 big core +4 small core” architecture. Helio P40 adopts the A73 core of four 2.0GHz and the A53 core of four 2.0 GHz, while Helio P70 adopts the A73 core of four 2.5GHz and the A53 core of four 2.0 GHz.
In terms of GPU, Helio P40 adopts the 700MHz Mali-G72 MP3, while Helio P70 adopts the 800MHz Mali-G72 MP4. Actually, there is a difference between Helio P40 and P70 and other Qualcomm chips at the same level.
It is reported that the Helio P40 and P70 will be officially unveiled at CES 2018 at the beginning of this month. Currently, companies such as Xiaomi, MEIZU and OPPO have expressed their intention to purchase the mew chips. Maybe in the future we will see these two CPU on some of the mid-range models.
